What are Resources?

The world of Cryptopia contains a vast amount of resources waiting to be owned, created, and traded with—they range from raw materials like sand, coal, and stone, to manufactured ones like plastics and steel. There are two major types of resources: Raw and Manufactured. Raw resources are also classified as Finite and Infinite.

Processed

Aluminum

An extraordinarily useful metal, Aluminum is a product of Bauxite Ore after it has been refined in a Steel Factory. Given that ore is finite, Aluminum is as well, depending on how much has been produced by the factories.

Concrete

Concrete is building material produced by the Concrete Factory from Sand. As such, it is possible to produce an infinite amount of Concrete, though demand may vary. Nevertheless, Concrete is necessary for the construction of all types of buildings.

Copper wire

As finite as its metal of origin, Copper Wires are a product of Copper processed by an Electronics Factory. Copper is extruded using machines to form thin wires, which are used for conducting electric signals.

Copper

This shiny red-tinged metal is the foundation of modern electronics. A finite material, the amount of Copper on the market depends only on the amount that Steel Factories can produce from Bauxite Ore.

Glass

It’s easy to take this material for granted given how plentiful it is. Glass is made from the resource Sand after it has gone through the heating and shaping process of a Glass Factory. Like its resource of origin, Glass can be produced for as long as there is a source of Sand and a Glass Factory to produce it.

Gold wire

Expensive as they sound, Gold Wires are a necessary component of nearly every hi-tech gadget and computer in Cryptopia. It is prized as a semiconductor material thanks to its durability and ability to conduct electricity. As finite as Gold itself, Gold Wires are produced by the Electronics Factory.

Gold

It’s tempting to horde Gold Bars, but Gold as a material has a more functional use than as a simple store of wealth. A finite material, Gold Bars are produced by Steel Factories after smelting raw Gold Ores.

Microchip

A tiny bit of metal and plastic, Microchips are the building blocks of computer systems everywhere and are an absolute must for Cryptopia’s existence. A product of Aluminum, Gold Bars, and Plastic processed by an Advanced Electronics Factory, Microchips are used in the production of hi-tech equipment.

Plastic

A product of Oil that has been processed in a Chemical Factory, Plastic is yet another ubiquitous material that can’t be taken for granted. Plastics are present in everything from tools to buildings to vehicles.

Steel

This mineral resource has many applications, but is finite and may only be extracted from a land tile using a Mine. Iron ore by itself is not useful, but can be sent to a Steel Factory for the production of Steel.

Raw

Coal

Coal is a finite fossil fuel that requires a Mine to produce and may only be found on land tiles. It is used as a raw material to keep Steel Factories running, and may also be used as fuel for a Coal Power Plant to generate electricity. Due to its carbon-based nature, note that using Coal as fuel leaves an enormous carbon footprint.

Copper Ore

Copper ore is a red-hued mineral resource found only on land tiles and can only be produced by a Mine. A limited resource, Copper ore is a raw material for a Steel Factory, which can then process it for the production of Copper.

Fish

Fish are a biological resource obtained from a sea tile by Fishing. With a proper Fishing Rod in hand, it’s only a matter of time before you get a catch. Fish is an important resource for leveling up Avian creatures you have tamed with NFT capture cards.

Fruit

An important source of fiber, Fruit is a biological resource harvested by Foraging on a land tile. Herbivores love to eat Fruits. Once you have captured Herbivore creatures with NFT capture cards, you will need to feed them with Fruits in order to level them up.

Gold Ore

Gold ore is a finite resource that can only be found on a land tile. Requiring a Mine to produce, Gold ore may be supplied to a Steel Factory to produce Gold Bars. A shiny, yellow-orange metal, Gold is known throughout history for its value.

Iron Ore

This mineral resource has many applications, but is finite and may only be extracted from a land tile using a Mine. Iron ore by itself is not useful, but can be sent to a Steel Factory for the production of Steel.

Meat

A rich source of proteins in Cryptopia, Meat is a biological resource that comes from Hunting wild animals on land tiles. Meat’s primary function is to level up both Carnivore and Reptile creatures you have tamed with NFT capture cards.

Oil

Also known as Black Gold, Oil is a fossil fuel that is abundantly found in nature, though it is finite in amount and notoriously difficult to extract. Oil may only be found on a sea tile and requires an Oil Platform to drill for it.

Sand

It’s coarse, it’s rough, and it’s everywhere. Sand is an infinite natural resource that can be located on the shore. It requires no building to produce; Sand can be obtained just by exploring land tiles.

Stone

Stone is an infinite mineral resource that can be found and claimed just by exploring land tiles. Assuming you can carry it with you, Stone is a basic requirement for building materials and the production of tools.

Wood

Without a doubt one of the most versatile resources available to humankind, Wood is among the most basic requirements for construction. An infinite resource found only on land tiles, it requires no building to produce and may be obtained through exploration.

Bauxite Ore

Mined from a land tile, Bauxite ore is a finite mineral resource. It is a reddish-brown sedimentary rock with some white or tan highlights, mostly found in sand and gravel deposits. Bauxite requires a Mine to produce and is used as a raw material for the Steel Factory.
