Story

Not everyone has the capabilities to be a part of Cryptopia. With all eyes looking at the new nation as their ticket to freedom, anyone would do anything to get in. This is where The Collective comes to aid the people—at a price.

Most people and businesses move to different locations to start a new chapter of their lives or to show what they are capable of. Being in Cryptopia meant a lot of things—it meant that you were either wealthy, skilled, or with enough influence that you were capable of what you wanted in a fast-paced society.

The Collective is a group of investors and elite who recognize that people need an extra push here, and an extra financial loan there to make it into the industry. This is why Esmeralda Torres stepped in to oversee The Collective and its transactions.

Esmeralda Torres knows that to be a force to be reckoned with requires planning long-term and outfighting anyone around her. She grew up in extreme poverty and did everything in her power to reach her position now.

She spent her college years alongside Jane Brown, where they met and became close friends, matching first or second at the top of their batch. The two grew close due to similar upbringing and often shared their experience and their hopes for better lives. It didn’t take long until they both started working together in a law firm as soon as they graduated, while Esmeralda worked a second job as an accountant under her hometown’s loan shark.

In her accounting job, she felt the benefits of being a loan shark long outweighed her work in the law firm. She skimmed from the interest payments of her clients and was able to pay her student loans and settle payments for home and cars. Things came to a screeching halt when Esmeralda realized that a few of her clients’ tabs closed quickly thanks to Jane intervening and helping them. The two friends bitterly parted ways afterward, with Esmeralda packing up everything and disappearing in the middle of the night.

Years later, she resurfaced with her own company that operated on loaning money, and properties at low-interest rates to entice potential customers. With her skills in finance and negotiations, she enticed potential customers to take a loan or invest. However, through careful wording, her company can hold a person and their assets hostage until eventually, strong-arming them to her will. While some can pay their debts, others are forced to work it off under her company’s strict guidelines.

Through her experience with interacting with various assets, she was able to accumulate resources and contacts that are willing to work at any price and at any time of day. Her calculated moves and bold tactics made her the best candidate for The Collective, and within months, the leader of it. With her efforts, she has made The Collective shift its focus to supporting the people who are eager to go to Cryptopia. She knows firsthand that anyone is willing to pay the price for freedom. It’s just a matter of how.
