    How to Obtain a Node

Player-Run Nodes

Playing and interacting with others in the virtual open world of Cryptopia should be fun, effortless, and as easy as browsing the web. Nodes are devices that help create that environment.

Nodes build a decentralized network on the devices where they are installed, such as computers and smartphones. Each node communicates with all the others without ever needing a centralized server.

Why Players Should Use Nodes

A node-based decentralized network offers numerous advantages to Cryptopia players. Not only does it facilitate seamless communication, allowing players to chat simply by approaching one another, but nodes also pinpoint a player's exact location on a tile, akin to a GPS, making it effortless to locate and converse with specific players. Moreover, using nodes streamlines transactions by bundling them together, thus reducing gas fees. Additionally, Cryptopia incentivizes players to install nodes, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

However, while it's possible to play Cryptopia without installing any nodes, this choice comes with limitations. Players would be restricted to accessing only the game's crucial data and could only engage in conversations on designated world tiles. Given the vast number of players, non-node-based chat would necessitate connecting to each player individually, resulting in sluggish communication and incurring gas fees with every message.

Rewards for Nodes Users

Node operators in Cryptopia are rewarded simply for maintaining online status. A player can undertake a quest to verify an operator's online presence, and upon successful confirmation, the operator receives part of the quest reward. Additionally, operators have the option to levy fees for processing transactions on their nodes. Anticipated future updates also suggest operators will have the opportunity to lease out their nodes to external projects, generating additional income.

How to Obtain a Node

  1. Purchase a Node License NFT in Cryptopia. The license allows your node to be discoverable so that others can connect to you.
  2. Follow the steps in the user interface to register the node on the blockchain.
  3. Stay online as much as possible so the node can relay in-game messages.
