Background

The Collective is a pirate group who recognize that people sometimes need an extra push to make it to the top, particularly if they don’t have a lot to begin with. Led by Esmeralda Torres, they stepped into Cryptopia to gather as many of the poor and underprivileged as they could under their wing and turn them into a force to be reckoned with.

Esmeralda Torres grew up in extreme poverty and did everything in her power to reach her position now. She spent her college years alongside the current Unifiers leader, Jane Brown. The two grew close due to their similar upbringing and often shared their experience and their hopes for better lives. However, Esmeralda took a darker turn as she decided to become a loan shark, skimming from the interest payments of her clients to pay off her student loans and settle payments for home and luxury cars. The two friends bitterly parted after a disagreement over Esmeralda’s predatory ways.

Years later, Esmeralda was able to accumulate resources and contacts that are willing to work at any price and at any time of day. Her calculated moves and bold tactics made her the best candidate for The Collective, and within months, she came to lead it.

She has made The Collective shift its focus to supporting the people who are eager to thrive in Cryptopia. In truth, however, those at the top of The Collective grow their wealth the quickest. Despite this, the pirate group keeps growing under Esmeralda, who knows firsthand that anyone is willing to pay the price for financial freedom.
