Genominers
Cryptopia is filled with open-minded individuals wanting to be the first to innovate and create. The Genominers take this a step too far, grabbing wealth to fund their experiments in genetics and biohacking.
Background
While biohacking isn’t relatively new, its approaches and methods are often seen as questionable, unsafe, and unethical. With most governments intervening by making countless laws to control it, it has forced like-minded individuals to flee and reside elsewhere. This disparate group composed of hackers, med techs, and bioengineers eventually found their oasis in Cryptopia, made a ship called The Ark their headquarters, and established their reputation as the Genominers.
Noah Larsen leads this pirate subfaction. Savvy with computers and coding, he used his skills to further his research into medical biology and human anatomy. His frequent hospital stays during his youth have led him into the world of biohacking, searching for answers on how to be a better version of himself.
The Genominers have launched various forms of gene therapies, such as injecting genomes and other processed fluids to make people grow taller, healthier, and stronger. However, they have become notorious for stealing and collecting various organisms’ DNA and biological information so that they can find the ideal set of genomes to experiment on.
The Genominers are constantly on the hunt for research and funds to keep their experiments running. In exchange, they are the best resource for fresh organs, potent (but experimental) medicines, and remedies, or a rare breed of exotic pets. Noah and the Genominers can then fund their main project: the creation of the perfect human genome, strong and free of illness. Genominers will stop at nothing to give humanity the “upgrade it deserves.”
Tech Pirate Ships
Hammerhead - Starter Ship: The Hammerhead is light on storage but lets pirates hit targets quickly, then get out before bounty hunters can catch their scent.
Manta - Frontier Ship: Trading cargo space for top speed, the Manta cuts like a knife through the waves and is perfect for looting slower-moving cargo vessels.
