Tiles

  • anchor icon

A player may interact with a tile in several ways:

Tiles are how players may interact with the world of Cryptopia. The world map is divided into hexagon-shaped tiles, each representing a parcel of land or sea. Tiles are classified into three types:

  • Land - located in the interior area of an island, these tiles are typically forest or grasslands. They are essential for obtaining resources like stone, coal, wood, etc.
  • Sea - a tile located on the water can be useful for obtaining oil, but players may also travel there for various reasons.
  • Beach - located at the edge of an island, beach tiles are essential for shipyards and harnessing wind energy.

A player may interact with a tile in several ways:

  • A player may travel to a tile. They may sail to one, trek to one, or a combination of both. Clicking on a tile will give you some information about it, including how long it will take to travel there.
  • Once they arrive on a tile, a player may enter it and interact with other players present there. If they enter a tile while on a related quest, they may also interact with the quest elements on that tile.
  • Tiles may be owned. A tile can be claimed, purchased, or traded with another player. The exceptions are special tiles that no one can own, such as the city of Cryptopia and the Pirate Lair. Tiles may also be owned - by multiple players by either using a co-owned multisig wallet, or through a DAO.
  • Owned tiles are marked as a Faction Zone by that player’s specific faction.
  • Tiles can be mined for resources. Some tiles may have valuable resources like oil or energy sources like wind. Whenever a tile is mined by another player, the tile owner gains a fraction of the amount extracted.
  • If a player owns a tile (i.e. either as a sole owner or co-owned through a DAO or multisig wallet), they may construct buildings on their tiles.
