    Ship Perks

An important mode of travel, ships are required to traverse sea tiles. Ships can range from graceful, opulent vessels meant to showcase a player’s status, to sleek warships designed to chase down fleeing quarries, to a mixture of both.

Ships are obtained in a number of ways:

  • Starter ships are given to every new player
  • Ships can be minted through purchase from the Marketplace.
  • Ships can be built in a shipyard
  • Ships may be purchased from other players

Note that ships are necessary for players choosing the Pirate and Bounty Hunter playstyles.

Ship Description

A ship may function as a player’s mobile base or home. A ship’s interior may hold stations, including a workbench for crafting, a cargo hold for your inventory, and more. When on a water tile, you may also exit your ship to go into the water and explore.

Ship Stats

All ships have the following stats:

  • Speed - a measure of how fast a ship can travel from one place to another. Faster ships help allow players to be more efficient at exploration, quests, jobs, and escaping dangerous situations.
  • Defense - indicates the strength of a ship’s hull. A strong Defense makes a ship more difficult to damage in combat or when hitting an obstacle.
  • Modules - measures how many modules can fit in a ship. Each ship can accommodate a number of modules that improve its other stats.
  • Storage - refers to a ship’s storage capacity. The better its storage, the more items the ship may carry.
  • CO2 - measures how much carbon waste a ship expels. The more carbon it emits, the more environmental damage it does.

Inventory

Like a character, all ships have an inventory that can store items. This lets players transport items across areas, and even move goods, products, and quest items to other locations across the sea. However, having an inventory makes ships prime targets for Pirates. A Pirate may intercept a ship traveling at sea and attempt to loot them. Depending on a player’s luck and their ship stats, they may escape a confrontation or risk losing part or even all of their inventory to the Pirate. Of course, even Pirates have an inventory, leaving them vulnerable to Bounty Hunters. Once a bounty has been placed on a Pirate, a Bounty Hunter may search for and confront a Pirate to take back the loot they acquired. This creates a rewarding economic loop.

Docks

Also known as shipyards, docks provide an essential service by allowing ship owners to repair and upgrade ships, load and unload cargo, and switch between ships they own. Players may have their ships serviced at public docks for a fee, or use private docks exclusive to their faction.

Ship Perks

Players who joined Cryptopia during its early access period are eligible to gain Frontier Ships. These are prestigious and enhanced starter ships that have superior stats, allowing players to travel faster, carry more, and complete quests ahead of the competition. They also come with several other benefits as well.

Here is the full list of perks for Frontier Ships:

  1. Better Starting Stats — Frontier ships have higher speeds, allowing players to reach destinations quicker and complete missions faster. They also have a greater storage capacity to contain and transfer items. These ships can be further improved using advanced modules.

  2. Early Access Benefits — minting a Frontier Ship also gives these benefits:

    • Land Acquisition - players gain access to exclusive auctions for mainnet tiles during the testnet phase.
    • Beta Testing Privilege - players can access the demo ahead of the official beta testnet launch, allowing them a preview of the game and the chance to create strategies ahead of time. They may also provide useful feedback for developers, which can impact gameplay.
    • Keep collected resources - early access players don’t lose the resources they collected in the testnet; they may carry them over from the testnet to the mainnet in their Frontier Ship's storage. Once these resources cross over to the mainnet, they gain cryptocurrency value.
  3. Exclusive Insider Access — Frontier Ship owners gain access to Cryptopia’s dedicated Discord channel, where they may read up on Cryptopia news updates ahead of the rest of the community. They also gain access to exclusive seminars, AMAs, and special events for early backers.

  4. $TOS Allocation — Lastly, Frontier Ship owners obtain a daily $TOS allocation for their ships lasting for two years from the date the ship was minted. The amount of $TOS they gain depends on their ship’s rarity.

  • Common Ships (85% mint chance) - daily allocation of 50 $TOS
  • Rare Ships (15% mint chance) - daily allocation of 80 $TOS
  • Legendary Ships (1% mint chance) - daily allocation of 250 $TOS

Note: While $TOS will be allocated to players immediately upon minting the ship, players must wait till the official mainnet launch before they can access the amount.

Legacy Ship owners (players who have minted ships before September 1st, 2023) also have perks:

  1. Legacy ship owners may upgrade their legacy ships without any additional cost, apart from gas fees.

  2. $TOS will be retroactively allocated to legacy ship owners, dating back to their original mint date. They will also receive an additional two years of $TOS allocated daily, with the amount depending on their ship’s rarity.
